Pune now houses Mastercard’s latest state-of-the-art tech hub. Nestled within Bluegrass Business Park, Yerwada, the new facility spans nearly half a million square metres. It is the latest addition to Mastercard’s global Tech Hub network, joining the ranks of cities like Arlington, Dublin, New York, St. Louis, Sydney, and Vancouver.
The Pune Tech Hub will be home to over 6,000 technologists, engineers, and specialists from software development, cybersecurity, data architecture, and other fields. This makes Pune the single largest city workforce for Mastercard globally.

Mastercard has been operating in India for over four decades. What began as a small team in 2014 with its first Pune Tech Hub has now ballooned into this massive state-of-the-art facility. Over the past decade, Mastercard’s investment in India’s workforce has only deepened, and its Pune base has been instrumental in supporting global operations like payment safety, cybersecurity, fraud detection, and digital identity.

As Ed McLaughlin, President and Chief Technology Officer at Mastercard, puts it: “As one of the key nodes for our technology operations worldwide, the new Pune Tech Hub will collaborate with other hubs around the world to build the revolutionary technologies that shape our world, powering economies to make everyday life happen.”
Mastercard’s projects, like the Community Pass, a financial inclusion platform, and the Payment Passkey Service, a secure online checkout system that integrates biometrics and tokenisation, were piloted in India. The addition of the tech hub brings in more traction to India’s goal of becoming “Viksit Bharat” by 2047.
Gautam Aggarwal, Mastercard’s Division President for South Asia, said, “Our newest Tech Hub in Pune marks a significant milestone, demonstrating Mastercard’s focus on growth in this market. With a strong team in India supporting global technological breakthroughs, we look forward to building on the work to achieve the Government of India’s ambitious digitisation goals, alongside our valued partners in the region.”

The Pune Tech Hub is designed to deepen the collaboration between Mastercard’s Indian and global teams and tackle some of the world’s most complex technological challenges. It is also one of Mastercard’s most sustainably designed offices globally, powered by solar energy and the first building in the world to earn TRUE Platinum certification for construction and TRUE-certified construction in India.
Inside, the space is designed with employees in mind, with tech-enabled collaborative zones, ergonomic sit-to-stand desks, wellness areas, a gym, games room, open-air terrace, and even an exclusive cafeteria dishing out healthy dining options. The design themes of each floor are inspired by the ‘panch mahaboots’—the five elements of nature. The walls feature murals and original art from Indian artists.
The new Pune Tech Hub solidifies Mastercard’s already substantial presence in India, where it also operates from offices in Gurugram, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Vadodara.
