Aptos Labs, a player in the blockchain arena, has announced a strategic partnership with io.net, a pioneer in decentralized GPU compute solutions, marking a significant move towards making artificial intelligence (AI) resources more accessible. This collaboration aims to blend the innovative powers of blockchain with AI, amidst growing interest from venture capitalists in the booming sector.

As part of their joint effort, io.net and Aptos Labs plan to develop and launch an array of AI models and inference tools on the Aptos network. This initiative is expected to harness the Aptos platform for enabling payments, leveraging blockchain technology for a more decentralized AI application landscape.

io.net’s flagship AI product, BC8.ai, already processes upwards of half a million transactions daily on the Aptos network. This successful integration has paved the way for a deeper alliance, with both companies sharing a vision for reducing risks and promoting decentralization within AI applications on the blockchain.

This partnership is in line with the growing investor interest in the synergy between blockchain and AI technologies. A research paper from a16z crypto, released in December 2023, highlighted blockchain’s potential to counterweight the dominance of centralized AI systems. Blockchain could create inclusive markets open to global participation.

The venture capital landscape reflects this enthusiasm, with AI startups seeing a surge in funding. February witnessed AI firms attracting $4.7 billion in venture capital, a substantial increase from previous months and the same period in the previous year, showcasing the sector’s expanding financial appeal.
