IndiaAI and Indian Council of Medical Research have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to accelerate the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence in India’s healthcare sector. The partnership aims to create a nationally integrated and interoperable AI ecosystem focused on improving healthcare outcomes through ethical and scalable AI deployment.

Under the collaboration, IndiaAI will provide access to compute infrastructure, dataset platforms, and ecosystem-building initiatives, while ICMR will contribute its expertise in biomedical research and public health. The partnership will also support the co-development of AI-powered solutions targeting key public health challenges using ICMR’s disease-burden data.

As part of the agreement, anonymised and ethics-compliant health datasets, AI models, and toolkits developed under ICMR’s MIDAS framework will be integrated into the AIKosh platform. This is expected to improve access to high-quality biomedical data for researchers, startups, and innovators working in healthcare AI.

The initiative will also provide ICMR researchers with access to subsidised GPU-based high-performance computing infrastructure, enabling advanced AI model development and large-scale healthcare research.

The collaboration builds on earlier global partnerships involving IndiaAI and ICMR’s National Institute for Research in Digital Health and Data Sciences under the HealthAI Global Regulatory Network, reinforcing India’s focus on safe, transparent, and responsible AI governance in healthcare.
