Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has officially announced the launch of Grok 3, the newest artificial intelligence chatbot developed by his company, xAI. The highly anticipated AI model will be introduced with a live demonstration on Monday at 8 p.m. Pacific Time (Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. IST).
Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Musk described Grok 3 as the “smartest AI on Earth.” He further revealed that he would remain offline over the weekend to collaborate with his team on final refinements before the official rollout.
The announcement follows Musk’s recent statement at the World Government Summit in Dubai, where he emphasised Grok 3’s advanced capabilities. According to Musk, the model has been trained on synthetic data and is designed to reflect on its mistakes, ensuring greater logical consistency and accuracy in responses. He expressed confidence that Grok 3 will outperform existing AI models, including OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
The AI landscape is witnessing fierce competition, with multiple companies striving to push technological boundaries. Recently, Chinese firm DeepSeek gained attention for developing an AI assistant that reportedly operates with lower data requirements and reduced costs compared to leading AI solutions.

Musk’s xAI aims to solidify its position in this competitive market with Grok 3, which is expected to deliver faster processing speeds, enhanced multilingual support, and improved instruction-following capabilities compared to its predecessor, Grok 2. The previous version was launched in August and introduced features such as an image generator and real-time web search.
Beyond its technical advancements, the launch of Grok 3 marks another chapter in the ongoing rivalry between Musk and OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman. Musk, who co-founded OpenAI in 2015 as a non-profit venture, has publicly criticised the organisation for shifting towards a for-profit model. He has since pursued his vision for AI development through xAI.
