
French aerospace firm Thales and Garuda Aerospace, an Indian drone manufacturer, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop secure drone operations in India. Set to begin in August 2024, the partnership will help develop safe drone operations through innovation and advanced technological solutions.
Thales will provide its Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) solutions, UAV detection technology, and system integration, and Garuda Aerospace will Thales understand the Indian market better, and offer its UAV manufacturing capabilities, and a fleet of over 2,500 drones with 4,000 pilots across 400 districts.

Ashish Saraf, the VP and Country Director of Thales in India, said, “The government is providing a robust foundation for the drone ecosystem, fostering opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and growth. This collaboration aligns well with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision, and seeks to support India in realising its ambition to become a major global hub for drones by 2030.”
