Reliance Power Limited has announced the appointment of Neeraj Parakh as its Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective January 20, 2025. His three-year tenure is subject to the approval of the company’s members, as decided during a recent board meeting at the company’s headquarters.

Parakh, a seasoned professional with over 29 years of industry experience, has been associated with the Reliance Group for more than two decades. He joined the group in June 2004 as an additional manager in the Central Technical Services team at Reliance Infrastructure (Reliance Infra). Over the years, he has held various critical positions, contributing significantly to the company’s growth in both thermal and renewable energy sectors.

An engineering graduate in Production Engineering from Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering (YCCE), Nagpur, and a postgraduate in Business Administration from Welingkar Institute of Management, Mumbai, Parakh brings a blend of technical expertise and strategic leadership. His comprehensive experience spans areas such as project planning, execution, monitoring, operations, and maintenance. Additionally, he has played pivotal roles in procurement and managing complex regulatory and tax compliance requirements.

During his tenure with Reliance, Parakh has been instrumental in the successful execution of large-scale projects, including thermal power plants like Yamuna Nagar, Hisar, Rosa, Sasan, and Butibori, and renewable energy initiatives such as Solar PV and Solar CSP. These projects collectively contribute over 10 gigawatts (GW) to the national power grid, representing a cumulative capital investment of ₹50,000 crore.

Parakh’s leadership has focused on operational efficiency and sustainability. By emphasizing technology localization and vendor development, he has significantly reduced the company’s reliance on imports, ensuring operational self-reliance and a robust network of local suppliers. His efforts have enhanced the company’s cost-efficiency and compliance with regulatory frameworks across various domains.

In addition to his technical acumen, Parakh is recognized for his collaborative eadership style. His ability to build strong relationships with internal teams, external stakeholders, and vendors has contributed to the steady growth of Reliance Power. His expertise in technology selection, procurement, and contract management has streamlined operations, enabling the company to maintain its competitive edge.
