OpenAI has launched a new Library feature in ChatGPT, aimed at making it easier for users to store, manage, and reuse uploaded files across conversations.
The feature creates a centralised repository where all user-uploaded or AI-generated files—such as PDFs, spreadsheets, and images—are automatically stored and organised. This eliminates the need to repeatedly upload the same documents in different chats.

With the new system, users can quickly access recent files, retrieve past documents, and reuse them in new workflows, enabling a more seamless and efficient experience. The Library also supports continuity across sessions, allowing users to build on previous work without starting from scratch.

Additionally, the feature allows users to query and interact with stored files conversationally, making it easier to extract insights, summaries, or key information from previously uploaded content.
The update signals a broader shift in ChatGPT’s evolution—from a chat-based tool to a persistent AI workspace, where files, context, and workflows are maintained over time.
Currently rolling out to Plus, Pro, and Business users, the Library feature is expected to enhance productivity for users working with documents, research, and iterative tasks.
