Global consumer goods giant Unilever is exploring establishing a global capability centre in Hyderabad, signaling continued expansion of the city’s reputation as a premier destination for corporate innovation hubs.
The development emerged from discussions between Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Willem Uijen, Unilever’s chief supply chain and operations officer, during the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland.
During the meeting, Reddy highlighted Hyderabad’s rapid transformation into a major international GCC destination, emphasizing the city’s robust digital infrastructure, extensive talent availability, and business-friendly policy framework as key competitive advantages.
According to an official statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, Unilever indicated interest in assessing Hyderabad’s suitability for GCC operations. The Telangana delegation, including IT and industries minister D Sridhar Babu and revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, also encouraged the FMCG leader to consider manufacturing opportunities within the state’s industrial parks, leveraging Telangana’s expanding industrial ecosystem.

The state government emphasized its commitment to supporting global corporations across both technology-focused and manufacturing investments, positioning Telangana as a comprehensive business destination.
The potential Unilever GCC follows another significant development in Hyderabad’s innovation landscape. L’Oréal recently launched the world’s largest beauty tech global capability centre in the city, planning to employ over 2,000 beauty tech engineers. This milestone underscores Hyderabad’s growing prominence in advanced digital innovation and AI-driven technology sectors.
The convergence of major multinational interest reinforces Hyderabad’s strategic position as India’s fastest-growing hub for global capability centres, competing with traditional destinations like Bengaluru and Pune.
