Vishal Mehta has been named the new Chairman and Managing Director of Rediff. The change in leadership comes after Infibeam Avenues acquired a majority stake in Rediff. On Tuesday, Rediff’s board of directors decided to appoint Mehta officially. He succeeds Ajit Balakrishnan, who has been leading the company since its inception in 1996 and will ensure a smooth transition.
On Tuesday, Infibeam Avenues acquired a 54.01 per cent equity stake in Rediff, making it a subsidiary. This acquisition represents a major milestone for both companies.

Commenting on Mehta’s appointment, Balakrishnan said, “I am confident that the best is yet to come and under Vishal’s leadership, Rediff will undoubtedly drive into new realms of growth and innovation.”

In addition to his role at Rediff, Mehta will retain his position as the Chairman and Managing Director of Infibeam Avenues. He has expertise in digital innovation and strategic business development. Mehta is a former Amazon executive who helped the company improve its technology and corporate development functions during his five-year stint at Amazon’s corporate headquarters.
