WhatsApp is working on a new feature for group chats. The latest version of the beta app for Android includes a “mention badge” that appears in group chats.

This feature is available in WhatsApp for Android 2.21.3.13 beta update, but it is not yet visible to users. WhatsApp is currently working on this feature, which should be available in a future release. WABetaInfo explains this function as follows: “When you get a mention in a group, a new badge is added to the group cell.”

WhatsApp already notifies users when they are tagged in group chats, so this may be an extension of the feature. It is not known when WhatsApp will introduce this feature in the stable version.

The report also mentions the introduction of a new sticker pack on WhatsApp. It’s called “Taters n Tots” and the sticker pack is currently available in the app. Interested users can tap the stickers icon in any chat and select the “+” icon to download the new sticker pack. It will appear first in the sticker pack list.

WhatsApp is also working on a sticker shortcut for your keyboard. The new tag link will appear in the chat bar, and WhatsApp will display all relevant tags for emojis or typed words in the chat bar. This feature is also under development in the WhatsApps beta app for Android.
