Amazon Web Services (AWS) has appointed Sandeep Dutta as the new President for AWS India and South Asia. He was previously the Senior Managing Director and India Business Lead at Accenture, where he spent more than 16 years, working in various capacities.

The news of Dutta’s appointment was shared by Jaime Valles, Vice President of AWS, via his LinkedIn account. He wrote, “Sandeep’s arrival marks an important milestone in our journey to empower businesses, governments, and communities throughout the subcontinent to realize their full digital potential.”


Valles further provided an insight into how AWS is investing in India’s future potential. He revealed AWS’ planned investment of INR 1,05,600 crore (USD $12.7 billion) by 2030, expected to contribute INR 1,94,700 crore (USD $23.3 billion) to India’s GDP and support over 131,700 full-time equivalent jobs annually.

The above is in addition to the existing cloud infrastructure that has already contributed over INR 30,900 crore (USD $3.7 billion) to India’s GDP and supported more than 39,500 jobs.

Additionally, he revealed that AWS is committed to the sustainability of India’s digital future, investing in 50 renewable energy projects across the country. When completed, these projects will have a combined capacity to generate over 1.1 gigawatts of clean energy, powering both AWS operations and contributing to India’s green energy goals.
