Puneet Chandok’s appointment as Corporate Vice President of Microsoft India and South Asia was announced by Microsoft. On September 1, 2023, he will take over Anant Maheshwari’s operational duties.
With the help of a capable leadership group, Puneet will be in charge of integrating Microsoft’s operations in South Asia, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. This will increase the company’s regional presence and sharpen its focus on key industries through a customer-centric strategy that places generative AI at its core.

Ahmed Mazhari, president of Microsoft Asia, declared, “We are pleased to announce that Puneet will be joining Microsoft India. Puneet has a proven track record of starting, expanding, and using technology-based businesses to create impact and change. Puneet’s leadership will be crucial in ensuring Microsoft’s continued success in South Asia as we embrace an AI-driven future. I also want to thank Anant Maheshwari for putting us on a growth path.”

Commenting on his appointment, Puneet Chandok said, “I am inspired by Microsoft’s mission to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As India expands its own digital public infrastructure, I believe that this mission is more relevant here than ever before, and I am thrilled to be joining the One Microsoft team to make this mission a reality.”
“It has been a privilege to participate in Microsoft India’s remarkable growth over the last seven years,” said Anant Maheshwari. “I am filled with gratitude for an exceptionally talented team with a strong set of leaders driving this momentum. The Microsoft India team has created a strong foundation of trust and entrepreneurial business models.”
The hiring of Puneet coincides with Microsoft’s continued market expansion as a pioneer in cloud computing and digital innovation. Microsoft’s expansion coincides with India’s emergence as a major center of innovation thanks to its largest partner ecosystem globally, which includes a 17,000-strong network in India that generates high cloud revenue, as well as recent investments in local infrastructure, including the intention to build a new data center in Hyderabad. Microsoft is still steadfastly dedicated to providing the market with game-changing digital technology in order to fuel India’s economic development and inclusive growth agenda.
Puneet joins Microsoft from AWS, where he oversaw operations in India and South Asia and worked closely with large corporations, startups, digital businesses, and small and medium-sized businesses to help them innovate, reduce technical debt, and bring agility. Prior to this, Puneet held senior regional and international positions at IBM and served as a Partner at McKinsey in India and Asia. Puneet has a bachelor’s in commerce, an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management in Calcutta, as well as diplomas in high-level computer systems, networking, and computer programming.
