Aiming to create new benchmarks in technical education by forging closer ties between academia, industry and students, Maruti Suzuki India has collaborated with IIT Guwahati (IITG), Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS), Japan to promote education and training covering engineering courses and internship programmes in both India and Japan.
The initiative seeks to promote research in next generation technologies to benefit both the countries.
“This institutional collaboration will help us prepare students wider technical roles. Internship exposures at global and local levels will make students ready for global and local roles,” Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India, was quoted as saying in a media report.
An MoU in this regard was signed at IIT Guwahati in the presence of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to India Satoshi Suzuki.
As per the MoU, an engineering course–primarily related to automobiles–will be conducted at IITG. On successfully completing the course, students will be offered an opportunity to do an internship at Suzuki Motor Corporation’s facility in Japan as well as at Maruti Zuzuki India.
