Foodtech Unicorn Zomato has announced that it has appointed Akriti Chopra as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The move comes a year after Sameer Maheshwary had stepped down from the position.
The appointment was given approval by the company’s board on November 8, as per the reports published by paper.vc.
According to an English daily, Chopra was appointed as the CFO in April.
Chopra holds a commerce degree from Lady Sri Ram College for Women and is a Chartered Accountant. She has been with the company for eight years.
Deepinder Goyal, Chief Executive Officer, Zomato said in an email statement to an English daily said “Akriti has been building our finance and legal teams for more than 8 years now. Her analytical bent of mind, high level of ownership and moral authority make her a great fit for a CFO role at Zomato.”

Sameer Maheshwary had stepped down from the company citing personal and professional reasons. He had served in the company for less than six months into his tenure.
