LTM, the IT services company formerly known as LTIMindtree, has turned its global capability centre (GCC) business into a standalone unit built around agentic AI. The company on Wednesday, 28 October, launched GCC Origin, an independently operated business unit that will help enterprises set up, run, scale and transform their capability centres in India.
The launch formalises the GCC-as-a-Service offering LTM introduced in July 2025, giving it dedicated leadership, its own sales and delivery teams, specialist expertise and what the company describes as significant investment. Shailendra Singh will head the unit and report to Venu Lambu, CEO and Managing Director, LTM.
From cost centres to AI-native operations
GCC Origin brings strategy, artificial intelligence, technology, talent, infrastructure, operations and ecosystem partnerships under one integrated model. Its central promise is that new and existing centres can be designed as AI-native operations from the start rather than retrofitted later.
To do that, the unit will draw on BlueVerse, LTM’s agentic AI ecosystem, both to stand up new GCCs and to move established centres towards agent-driven ways of working.
“The role of the GCC has changed. Enterprises no longer set them up to cut costs, they want them to create value from day one and to own capabilities that shape the business. Increasingly, that means AI. GCC Origin is built for that shift, helping enterprises create GCCs that are agentic by design,” Lambu said, adding that the modular model lets clients build, operate and transform GCCs around their own priorities.
What the unit offers
- Strategy and advisory for enterprises planning or expanding a GCC
- Talent acquisition and development to staff and upskill centres
- AI agents, studios and automation powered by BlueVerse
- Site selection, workplace and infrastructure development, operational readiness and turnkey facilities across Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities
- Business operations and capability transfer, including handing over operational ownership to the client
Clients can take on the full GCC lifecycle or pick individual services. Engagement models include Assisted GCC, Build-Operate-Transform-Transfer, Virtual GCC, joint ventures, staff augmentation and Hire-Operate-Transfer.
A crowded race for the GCC market
LTM’s move comes as Indian technology services firms compete hard for multinationals setting up in-house centres in the country. Quess Corp launched its GCC-as-a-Service offering in June 2025, Infosys unveiled an AI-first GCC model in November 2025, and Tata Consultancy Services created a dedicated Global Value & Innovation Centres business unit in June 2026. Cognizant, HCLTech, Wipro, Accenture and Tech Mahindra are also chasing the segment through specialist practices.
What is changing is the pitch. A few years ago, GCC partners competed mainly on cost, speed of setup and access to talent. Today, the differentiator being sold is how quickly a centre can run AI agents in production, govern them and turn that capability into business value.
Why it matters for CIOs
For technology leaders weighing a new capability centre, or rethinking an existing one, the shift is significant. Ownership models are becoming more flexible, infrastructure and talent are being bundled with AI platforms, and partners are increasingly offering to transfer not just people and processes but agent-driven operations. The questions that matter now include who governs the AI agents inside the centre, how much of that stack the enterprise will eventually own, and how easily it can be moved if priorities change.
With GCC Origin, LTM is betting that the next wave of India’s capability centres will be judged less by headcount and more by how deeply AI is built into the way they work.
