Bengaluru City Police has become the first police force in India to introduce an AI-powered multilingual system on its Namma 112 emergency helpline, enabling communication in more than 10 Indian and foreign languages.
The solution, developed in collaboration with Monday Ventures and Aeos, is powered by VANKI (Voice AI for Nationwide Key Interventions). It is designed to bridge language barriers during emergencies and ensure faster, more effective response.
The initiative follows data insights gathered since January, which showed that around 100–200 of the nearly 2,000 daily actionable calls were made in languages unfamiliar to call handlers. Malayalam emerged as the most requested language, followed by other regional languages, while Spanish, French, Nepali, and Arabic were the most common foreign language requests.

G Parameshwara, who launched the initiative, highlighted that Bengaluru’s global profile brings diverse populations, making multilingual support essential. He noted that the new system allows the police to assist callers in multiple languages and confirmed that additional languages will be added in the future.
