Tata Group, TCS, and OpenAI announced a comprehensive strategic alliance spanning enterprise innovation, infrastructure development, and social impact initiatives aimed at positioning India as a global AI leader.

The partnership provides thousands of Tata Group employees with access to Enterprise ChatGPT to accelerate productivity and innovation. TCS will leverage OpenAI’s Codex to enhance software engineering outcomes, while both organizations will collaboratively build industry-specific Agentic AI solutions combining OpenAI’s technology with TCS’s contextual industry expertise.

TCS and OpenAI will pursue joint go-to-market initiatives, enabling Indian and global enterprises to deploy AI-powered solutions. Through TCS’s HyperVault unit, the partnership includes developing AI infrastructure in India starting with 100MW capacity, scalable to 1GW, powering next-generation AI workloads through purpose-built, liquid-cooled data centers powered by green energy.

Sam Altman, OpenAI CEO, emphasized India’s leadership in AI adoption, noting the country’s talent, ambition, and government support position it to shape AI’s future. The collaboration aims to build infrastructure, skills, and local partnerships enabling India to develop AI capabilities.

N Chandrasekaran, Tata Sons Chairman, described the partnership as a major milestone in India’s vision for global AI leadership, highlighting opportunities to transform industries and skill India’s youth for the AI era.

The social impact component includes collaboration between OpenAI Foundation and TCS to provide AI training to Indian youth, develop technology toolkits for NGOs, and launch initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods for at least one million Indian youth.
