Snowflake CEO Sridhar Ramaswamy has identified India as a critical growth engine in the company’s global expansion strategy, emphasizing the country’s pivotal role in driving the data cloud platform’s business across Asia-Pacific and beyond.
India’s technology landscape presents substantial opportunities for Snowflake, with artificial intelligence projected to add $1 trillion to the country’s economy by 2035. The nation is positioning itself at the forefront of global AI innovation, with an anticipated need for one million AI professionals by 2026, creating a massive addressable market for data and AI solutions.
Snowflake has significantly expanded its presence in India over recent years, opening offices in Mumbai and Bengaluru while growing its Pune Center of Excellence, the only facility of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region. The company plans to expand its India workforce to over 700 employees by the end of 2025, with hiring across sales, operations, solutions engineering, marketing, and technical functions.

The company has built strong partnerships with major organizations including Deloitte, EY, TCS, LTIMindtree, AWS, and Microsoft, while serving prominent Indian customers such as IndiGo, Swiggy, Razorpay, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, and Godrej Capital. Fifty percent of Snowflake’s Asia-Pacific partner ecosystem is now rooted in India.
Ramaswamy, who took over as CEO in February 2024, brings extensive technology leadership experience from his 15-year tenure at Google, where he helped scale the advertising business from $1.5 billion to over $100 billion.
