Digantara Raises $50 Million to Advance Space-Based Missile Defence Capabilities By Elets News Network - 18 December 2025

Digantara

Digantara, an Indian space technology company, has raised $50 million in a fresh funding round to support the development of space-based systems linked to missile defence and strategic surveillance, according to people familiar with the matter.

The funding is expected to help the company scale its satellite capabilities and accelerate work on technologies designed to improve tracking, monitoring and situational awareness in space, areas that are increasingly seen as critical from a national security perspective.

Digantara has been working on space situational awareness platforms that use satellite data and analytics to monitor objects and activity in orbit. With the latest capital infusion, the company is understood to be expanding its focus towards defence-oriented applications, including early-warning and tracking systems that can support missile defence frameworks.

Officials aware of the development said the company is likely to work closely with government agencies and defence stakeholders as part of its next phase of growth. The emphasis, they said, would be on building indigenous capabilities and reducing reliance on external systems in sensitive domains.

India has been steadily increasing its investment in space and defence-linked technologies, with a growing number of private firms playing a role alongside public institutions. Digantara’s latest funding round is seen as part of this broader shift towards a more diversified and innovation-driven space ecosystem.

The company has not yet outlined a detailed timeline for deployment or operationalisation of the new systems.
