In a landmark moment for India’s innovation landscape, SAP has inaugurated its largest Centre of Excellence outside Germany in Devanahalli, Karnataka. The state-of-the-art 41-acre facility was officially opened by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Siddaramaiah and Shri Priyank M Kharge, Minister for IT & BT, Karnataka. The inauguration signals a significant milestone in Karnataka’s journey as a global innovation hub and reinforces the state’s growing stature in the global technology ecosystem.

This flagship investment by SAP stands as a testament to Karnataka’s unmatched talent pool, world-class infrastructure, and progressive policy framework. The Centre of Excellence is poised to play a transformative role in shaping the future of enterprise technology and sustainable innovation, further cementing the region’s position on the global map.

A remarkable aspect of this development is the contribution of Karnataka-based teams to SAP’s global intellectual property portfolio. It is noteworthy that one in every four SAP patents worldwide originates from this region, reflecting the high-caliber research and development conducted here. This underlines Bengaluru’s enduring identity as the innovation capital of the global South and a crucial node in SAP’s international R&D network.

The new campus is also set to become a major contributor to high-value employment in the state. Over the long term, the Centre will accommodate an additional 15,000 skilled professionals, creating jobs that are not only numerous but also pivotal in steering the next wave of enterprise innovation. This expansion aligns with Karnataka’s vision of becoming the innovation workforce engine of India, ensuring sustainable growth and inclusive opportunities for the talent pool.

In addition to its technological and economic impact, the SAP Centre of Excellence sets new benchmarks in sustainable infrastructure. The facility is designed to be net-zero, water-positive, and carbon-neutral, demonstrating how cutting-edge technology and environmental responsibility can coexist seamlessly. This aligns with the global imperative of sustainable development and reinforces SAP’s commitment to responsible innovation.

Beyond its physical infrastructure, the Centre is envisioned as a catalyst for the broader innovation ecosystem. It will house AI laboratories, startup incubation spaces, and dedicated collaboration zones to facilitate cross-sector partnerships. These initiatives are expected to foster synergy between industry, academia, and early-stage ventures, extending the benefits of innovation beyond metropolitan boundaries to tier-2 towns and emerging clusters across Karnataka.

The Government of Karnataka expressed deep appreciation for SAP’s enduring trust and commitment to the state. The partnership not only strengthens Karnataka’s global technology profile but also empowers it to lead the industries of tomorrow through inclusive, sustainable, and scalable innovation.

As Karnataka continues its journey as a global innovation epicenter, the inauguration of SAP’s new Centre of Excellence stands as a shining example of what visionary collaboration between government and industry can achieve.
