Agentic AI to Reshape Over 10 Million Jobs in India by 2030, Creating 3 Million New Tech Roles

India is on track to undergo one of the most significant workforce transformations in the world, with over 10.35 million jobs expected to be reshaped by agentic artificial intelligence (AI) by 2030, according to the newly released ServiceNow AI Skills Research 2025, conducted in partnership with Pearson.

The report highlights India’s rapid ascent on the global AI maturity curve, placing it ahead of regional peers such as Singapore and Australia. Around 25% of Indian enterprises are already in the advanced stages of AI adoption—well above the Asia-Pacific average, signalling a decisive shift from fragmented pilot projects to strategic, enterprise-wide AI integration.

“India’s AI journey is at a defining moment, with agentic AI not only transforming existing roles but also creating over 3 million new tech jobs by the end of the decade,” said Sumeet Mathur, Senior Vice President and Managing Director at ServiceNow India Technology and Business Centre.

Key sectors expected to experience the greatest disruption include manufacturing (8 million jobs), retail (7.6 million), and education (2.5 million). While repetitive tasks performed by roles like payroll clerks and change managers are being increasingly automated, a new wave of AI-supported roles is emerging. The most in-demand future-facing positions include AI Configurators (66% hiring rate), Data Scientists (65%), and Experience Designers (57%).

The report identifies a cohort of advanced adopters—termed “AI Pacesetters”—who are redefining success through integrated AI strategies. These companies report up to 63% gains in productivity after redesigning workflows and embedding AI across operations. Beyond just automation, these firms are prioritising AI governance, transparency, and workforce upskilling.

“India has a generational opportunity to lead the world in AI-powered transformation,” said Mathur. “To compete globally, businesses must embrace a model of human-AI collaboration rooted in trust, transparency, and continuous learning.”

However, the journey is not without challenges. The report reveals that 30% of Indian enterprises cite data security as their top concern, the highest in the region. Additionally, 26% of businesses remain uncertain about the future skills required to thrive in an AI-driven economy.

To bridge this gap, the study urges a shift from passive AI adoption to active, trust-based usage. This includes training employees to critically evaluate AI systems, understand underlying algorithms, and contribute to responsible AI deployment.

India’s demographic advantage, with the world’s largest youth population, and its rapidly expanding digital infrastructure, provides a solid foundation for this transformation. With the addition of 3 million tech jobs projected over the next five years, India is poised not only to adapt to the AI era but to lead it.
