Next-Gen Airport Operation

Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), the operator of Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR Airport), has joined forces with KPMG in India to build a Generative AI (GenAI) platform tailored for the aviation sector.

This strategic partnership is aimed at developing a bespoke GenAI-driven system that integrates real-time data analytics, predictive intelligence, and adaptive automation to streamline airport operations, elevate passenger experiences, and set new benchmarks in the aviation landscape. The platform, with a flexible and scalable architecture, will help BIAL proactively respond to operational needs, identify trends, and mitigate disruptions before they occur.

“At BIAL, we are committed to driving innovation at every level, and our association with KPMG in India is a significant step in unlocking the immense potential of GenAI at Kempegowda International Airport. GenAI’s capabilities, like real-time decision-making, predictive analytics, and adaptive intelligence, enhance our operations, leading to greater efficiency and sustainability. With a platform centred in data privacy, responsible AI, and scalability, BIAL, which is recognised for embracing the latest technological innovations, is set to take a leadership position in the aviation industry with a ‘Future Ready’ airport,” said George Fanthome, Chief Digital and Information Officer at BIAL.

The GenAI platform will serve as a transformative asset in enabling intelligent decision-making by analysing vast operational datasets in real time. By automating routine processes and delivering AI-powered insights across various airport functions, the platform will enhance operational efficiency, bolster resilience, and support a seamless passenger journey.

KPMG in India, with its sectoral expertise in aviation and advanced AI deployment, is working alongside BIAL to ensure the solution adheres to global standards in data governance, cybersecurity, and responsible AI usage.

“We are proud to partner with BIAL on this pioneering initiative in the aviation sector. Generative AI holds transformative potential to redefine airport operations and elevate passenger experiences worldwide. This project firmly positions BIAL as an industry leader, and we are excited to leverage our expertise in AI and aviation to drive meaningful, long-term impact,” said Girish Nair, Partner and Head of Aviation, KPMG in India.

This initiative places BIAL among a growing list of Indian airports embracing AI-led innovation. In recent years, airports like Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad and Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi have rolled out intelligent platforms that integrate digital twins, AI-powered predictive centres, and unified airside management systems, underscoring a broader industry shift towards data-driven operations.

BIAL’s latest collaboration builds on this momentum, positioning Kempegowda International Airport as a pioneer in deploying GenAI at scale. With an emphasis on security, sustainability, and intelligent automation, the platform is set to become a blueprint for the future of smart airports.
