Ford Business Solutions expands in India with new Bengaluru office By Elets News Network - 28 February 2025

Ford Business Solutions (FBS)

Ford Business Solutions (FBS), the global technology and business services hub of Ford, has expanded its presence in India with the launch of a new office in Bengaluru. This addition complements its existing Global Capability Center (GCC) in Chennai, where it already has a strong workforce of approximately 12,000 employees. Over the next four years, starting in 2025, FBS plans to onboard 2,000 more professionals in the country.

Mike Amend, Chief Enterprise Technology Officer at Ford, emphasized India’s significant role in the company’s global operations. “Ford has been in India for over 25 years, initially focusing on accounting and gradually expanding into technology. Today, our teams here support global operations across various functions, including product development, supply chain, manufacturing engineering, finance, HR, and marketing,” he said.

Unlike many companies that localise their teams to specific regions, FBS India plays a global role, providing support across North America, Europe, and other key markets.

The newly established Bengaluru office, an extension of the Chennai GCC, has a seating capacity for around 350 employees. At present, approximately 75 professionals are working from this location.

“The primary objective behind opening this office is to tap into specialized and high-demand skills,” Amend explained. “We are focusing on building advanced digital capabilities, including cybersecurity, DevSecOps, DevOps, and AI, which are critical for our global technology initiatives.”

While Chennai remains the company’s core operational base in India, Bengaluru was chosen for its deep talent pool in digital technology and AI. “Chennai continues to be our backbone, but Bengaluru offers greater access to niche, high-tech expertise. This expansion allows us to attract top talent that we might not be able to hire as extensively in Chennai,” he added.

Last year, FBS onboarded approximately 1,050 employees in Chennai, with a strong focus on enterprise technology. Currently, about 40% of the workforce in India is engaged in tech-related roles, while another 30% contributes to product development and engineering, including manufacturing engineering. Interestingly, half of Ford’s global enterprise tech team operates from Chennai, further underscoring India’s importance in the company’s digital transformation strategy.

With this expansion, Ford Business Solutions is set to strengthen its technological capabilities and enhance its role as a critical global hub for innovation and enterprise solutions.
