Bengaluru Airport City Limited (BACL), a part of Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), is building a 2 million square foot Business Park. This project is part of Karnataka’s Global Capability Centres (GCC) policy for 2024-2029.

The goal is to make Bengaluru a hub for GCCs. It aims to create 350,000 jobs and add $50 billion to Karnataka’s economy. The Business Park will cover 17.7 acres inside the Kempegowda International Airport (BLR Airport) campus.

The area will include business parks, education and health districts, research hubs, and places for entertainment and hospitality. Rao Munukutla, Executive Director and CEO of BACL, said Bengaluru has 36 per cent of India’s GCC workforce. These centres work in IT, biotechnology, automotive, and aerospace sectors.

A new Airport West metro station will connect the Business Park to Bengaluru city centre, making travel faster and easier. The airport city will also have a Concert Arena and a Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Karnataka launched its GCC policy in September 2023. The policy aims to bring 500 new GCCs by 2029. Karnataka is the first state in India to have a specific policy for this sector.

Property consultancy CBRE says Bengaluru led GCC office leasing between 2022 and mid-2024. The city accounted for 40% of 53 million square feet leased by GCCs in India’s top six cities.
