iMerit has launched its Automotive AI Centre of Excellence in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, making it the AI data solution company’s 12th global location. The centre was inaugurated by Dr Palanivel Thiagarajan, Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Information Technology and Digital Services.
The event was attended by iMerit employees, senior executives, and guests. Over 220 employees have been hired in Coimbatore, with plans to double the workforce by 2025. This move aligns with the growing demand for AI in the automotive sector, a market estimated to reach $7.5 billion by 2028 according to Nasscom.
Dr Thiagarajan said the centre will contribute to the growth of the industry and create new jobs. 52% of the workforce consists of women, who are the main earners of their families, he informed.
Radha Ramaswami Basu, iMerit’s CEO and Founder, said the centre will support the company’s automotive AI vertical. This vertical makes up 60% of its revenue. The centre will focus on autonomous mobility, trucking, ADAS, and drones.

Coimbatore is known for its strong technical talent pool. Anupam Biswas, iMerit’s Chief Delivery Officer, said over 220 multisensor fusion experts have been hired and trained. They will deliver key projects using Ango Hub software.
Coimbatore is ranked as one of India’s most liveable cities. It also offers a safe environment for women. iMerit expects to attract and retain skilled talent here. The company focuses on ethical AI practices and quality data solutions. This will support the automotive industry in adopting AI innovations.

The global AI data management market was valued at $25.53 billion in 2023. It is expected to grow by 22.7% annually until 2030. iMerit aims to grow with this trend. It will focus on AI advancements in the automotive sector.
