Evernorth, part of Cigna Group, has opened its first-ever global capability centre outside the US in Hyderabad. In the first phase, the company plans to bring together over 1,000 employees.
The Hyderabad global innovation centre, which could soon become Evernorth’s largest, was inaugurated by Telangana Information Technology and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu and Cigna Group’s Global Chief Information Officer Noelle Eder. Minister Sridhar Babu said that Evernorth’s addition to Hyderabad’s growing GCC scene will strengthen the city’s position as a global hotspot for innovation.

The centre began in April 2024 with just eight employees but has quickly grown to around 700 staff. It’s on track to cross 1,000 employees by early 2025, said Neel Chopdekar, Evernorth’s Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Technology and Operations. He said that Hyderabad offers fantastic talent in tech, analytics, and engineering, and they are pleased with the quality of people they have found in the city.
Currently, the centre is spread across two floors, each covering 100,000 square feet. The third floor is expected to be ready by January 2025, and the fourth by April 2025, Chopdekar added.
