Tata Electronics Appoints Bobby Mitra as CIO By Elets News Network - 10 October 2024

Tata Electronics has appointed Bobby Mitra as its Chief Information Officer (CIO) and President of AI and Digital Transformation. He will lead initiatives in electronic manufacturing services, semiconductor assembly and testing, foundry, and design services.

Mitra’s appointment aligns with Tata Electronics’ growing focus on AI-led manufacturing. The company is setting up India’s first semiconductor fab in Dholera, Gujarat, and the country’s first indigenous semiconductor assembly and test facility in Jagiroad, Assam.


Randhir Thakur, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Electronics commented on Mitra’s appointment and stated that his expertise in smart manufacturing and digital systems will enhance the company’s technology and manufacturing capabilities.

Mitra previously worked as the Worldwide Director of Smart Manufacturing at Texas Instruments India and was a Managing Director at Deloitte Consulting, overseeing manufacturing and supply chain projects. He holds several prestigious roles, including Fellow of the IEEE and Global Chair of SEMI Smart Manufacturing.

“Tata Electronics is committed to the extensive implementation of automation, AI solutions, and digital platforms within its manufacturing facilities. I am eager to leverage my extensive experience in the semiconductor sector to help shape the future factories at Tata Electronics,” said Mitra. He holds a B.Tech and Ph.D. from IIT Kharagpur and an Executive MBA from the University of Texas, Austin.
