
Amazon has named Samir Kumar as the new Country Manager for its India operations following Manish Tiwary’s resignation. Kumar has been with Amazon since 1999 and will officially take charge on October 1, 2024. He will continue overseeing the company’s consumer businesses in the Middle East, South Africa, and Turkey.
Kumar is an engineering graduate from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, and a master’s graduate from Utah State University. He played an important role in launching Amazon.in in 2013.

The transition was announced by Ami Agarwal, Amazon’s Senior Vice President for Emerging Markets.

The Amazon India team will report directly to Kumar, including Saurabh Srivastava (Categories), Harsh Goyal (Everyday Essentials), Amit Nanda (Marketplace), and Aastha Jain (Growth Initiatives).

Manish Tiwary, who has led Amazon India for over eight years, announced his resignation in early August. Kumar will collaborate with Tiwary during the transition for a seamless handover.
