YES Signs MoU with Tamil Nadu, Plans Major Semiconductor Facility in Coimbatore By Elets News Network - 30 August 2024

Yield Engineering Systems (YES) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu. The company plans to establish a manufacturing and new product development facility in Coimbatore, India.

YES makes process equipment for AI and HPC semiconductor solutions. YES India Private Limited plans to invest INR 150 crores in this project over the next 10 years. This will lead to the creation of around 300 direct jobs in the State of Tamil Nadu, 200 of which will be within the first 5 years. The project is also expected to generate about 1,200 indirect jobs through suppliers and contract manufacturers.


The Government of Tamil Nadu will provide the necessary infrastructure and regulatory support for the project.

Rama Alapati, CEO and Chairman of YES, called this an opportunity that brings them closer to their customers. It provides scalable manufacturing and engineering infrastructure and enables them to participate in the growth of India’s semiconductor ecosystem.

“This effort aligns with the Government of Tamil Nadu’s vision to develop Coimbatore into a semiconductor capital equipment global capability centre. Tamil Nadu offers an excellent business climate, a well-regarded education system and a great talent pool that will benefit YES as well as the wider semiconductor ecosystem,” Rama added.

Dr T R B Rajaa, Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Industries, said, “Tamil Nadu aspires to move up the value chain for electronics and semiconductor manufacturing and design in India. This investment by YES is a significant milestone in creating a new semiconductor ecosystem in Coimbatore.”
