Rajesh Nambiar, Chairman and Managing Director of Cognizant India, has reportedly resigned after four years with the company, according to media reports. He is expected to replace Debjani Ghosh as the President of Nasscom, the Indian IT industry’s leading organisation.

Nambiar, currently serving as Nasscom’s Chairperson, was part of the committee searching for a new president but stepped aside when he became the top candidate for the role.

The search committee, consisting of WNS CEO Keshav Murugesh, SAP Labs India Senior Vice President (SVP) Sindhu Gangadharan, and former Nasscom President Som Mittal, recommended Nambiar for the position. Another candidate for the role was Nivruti Rai, MD and CEO of Invest India.

Before joining Cognizant in 2020, Nambiar was Chairman and President of Ciena India and previously led an $8 billion application services practice at IBM.
