
Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) India has appointed Girish Tanti, the Vice President of Suzlon Group, as its new Chairperson. He is experienced in Strategy, Business Design & Management, Marketing, Corporate Governance, Corporate Social Responsibility.
At GWEC India, Tanti will be involved with the national and state governments, supporting policy frameworks and ensuring the advancement of the wind sector of India, both within the nation, and globally.

Tanti has Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering from Ramaiah Institute of Technology and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of South Wales, UK. He has more than 30 years of experience, gaining expertise in policy reform, technology development, and the establishment of global supply chains.

Suzlon Group was co-founded by Tanti in 1994. He is currently a Member of Board at Suzlon, and became the Vice Chairman of the company in October 2022. Previously, he was serving as the Chairman of Colossus Holdings.

The GWEC provides services for renewable energy responsible for the development of the wind power industry in emerging markets, like China, Mexico, Brazil, South Africa, Argentina, Vietnam, Mongolia and India. It functions as a member-based trade association, representing more than 1500 companies, organisations and institutions across 80 nations.
