Freshworks Inc. named Dennis Woodside as the new Chief Executive Officer and President of Freshworks, effective immediately. Woodside, who currently holds the position of President at Freshworks, will take over the reins from Girish Mathrubootham, who will be taking over as the Executive Chairman.

Girish Mathrubootham has steered the company from its beginnings in Chennai to becoming a prominent SaaS company headquartered in San Mateo. Under his guidance, Freshworks successfully went public on Nasdaq in September 2021, marking a significant milestone. With over 67,000 customers worldwide and a team of approximately 4,900 employees across 13 locations, Mathrubootham’s leadership has been instrumental in the company’s growth.

“When I first proposed this next step to the Freshworks Board, we were starting to chart the next phase of our company’s journey. We brought Dennis on board to partner with me on crafting an ambitious growth plan, and my hope was that he could eventually lead the team of talented employees around the world to execute it, which would allow me to spend more time on the long-term product vision, innovation and AI strategy,” said Girish Mathrubootham. “Dennis has a deep understanding of Freshworks’ business, customers and our employees, and a strong track record of building and scaling large global teams – he is the right leader to become our next CEO. Woodside, who joined Freshworks as President in September 2022, has been pivotal in accelerating the company’s focus on enterprise-grade products and expanding its reach to mid-market and enterprise customers. His extensive experience includes leadership roles at Dropbox and Google, where he played integral roles in revenue growth and strategic development.
