Expedia has revealed that Peter Kern will step down as CEO, making way for Ariane Gorin, a seasoned executive within the company, to assume leadership on 13 May. Gorin, who has been with Expedia for over a decade in various capacities, notably as the President of Expedia for Business, is also set to join the board of directors. Kern is transitioning to the role of Vice Chairman but will continue to serve on the board, a role he has occupied since 2005.
The appointment of Gorin, an internal figure, to the helm follows her proven leadership capabilities, as highlighted by Expedia Chairman Barry Diller. Under her stewardship, Expedia for Business, which encompasses collaborations with prominent travel brands and other B2B ventures, saw a remarkable 33% revenue growth year-over-year in 2023.

Barry Diller has lauded Gorin’s leadership and noted the board’s deliberate choice for an internal successor after a thorough search. Kern’s move to Vice Chairman and his ongoing board membership aims to ensure a seamless transition of leadership.
