Tanla welcomes former TRAI chairman to board By Elets News Network - 10 January 2024

Tanla Platform has announced RS Sharma as its board of directors. With the addition of RS Sharma, the total count on the board of Hyderabad-based firm now stands at 7.

RS Sharma was earlier the Chairman of TRAI (Telecom Regularity Authority of India) from 2015 and 2020. He worked on various initiatives promoting net neutrality and consumer rights during his tenure.
Uday Reddy, Founder Chairman and CEO of Tanla, commented on the appointment of RS Sharma and said “Sharma’s incredible vision and track record in India’s digital transformation journey makes him an invaluable addition to Tanla’s board. We are excited to learn from his pioneering experiences and advice for the continued success of Tanla Platforms globally.”


Sharma has been an Indian Administrative Service officer since 1978. He has a master’s degree in computer science from the University of California, USA; a doctorate in management and public policy from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi; and a master’s degree in mathematics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.

He led several government initiatives over the years. Sharma oversaw the development and implementation of Co-Win, the electronic backbone of the vaccination campaign in India, in his capacity as chairman of the Empowered Group of the COVID Vaccine Administration (EGVAC). He played a key role in the implementation of two government health initiatives, Ayushman Bharat Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), while serving as CEO of the National Health Authority.
