Claudionor Coelho Jr. comes as Chief AI Officer and Mohamed Shabar joins as EVP, Data & AI Platforms, working together. These well-considered appointments to the Zscaler leadership team further the company’s resolve to spearhead swift innovation in cutting-edge applied machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) to shape the direction of cloud-based security technologies.

Mohamed Shabar has led the development of the next generation of automation, artificial intelligence, and cloud platforms for over 25 years. He oversaw the Marketing Cloud Technologies division of Salesforce before. His vision and execution allowed the firm to accomplish a staggering three times reduction in customer attrition over a four-year period, in addition to an incredible 30% CAGR. Shabar oversaw a 10X increase in volume and throughput for the automation platform, which propelled Salesforce’s B2C growth engine and made it possible to send trillions of highly customized messages to businesses. Shabar worked with Microsoft for eighteen years, building strong platforms, developer tools, and ecosystems, before joining Salesforce.

Coelho was the Chief AI Officer and SVP of Engineering at Advantest before joining Zscaler. In that role, he led the creation of a Zero Trust private cloud solution specifically designed for the semiconductor manufacturing industry. Coelho led the charge in AI, AIOps, and Neuro-symbolic AI—an advanced form of AI that enables reasoning, learning, and cognitive modelling—to help revolutionise time series analysis tools on a massive scale prior to Advantest. Coelho was the Vice President and Fellow of AI and the Head of AI Labs at Palo Alto Networks. Throughout his career, Coelho has held significant positions in machine learning (ML) and deep learning at Google. There, he created cutting-edge Deep Learning technology for automatic quantization and model compression, which was essential to the CERN subatomic particle search.
