Rohit-Adlakha

Wipro has named company veteran Rohit Adlakha as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO). Adlakha will be replacing Raja Ukil, who served as Wipro CIO for almost five years.

While Adlakha will continue to head Wipro’s artificial intelligence platform HOLMES, ukil will now be the global head of cyber security and risk services.

Both executives will report to Wipro COO Bhanumurthy BM. According to a company spokesperson, Adlakha has the mandate to run digital transformation internally and use the AI platform across different operations and service delivery for Wipro.

Wipro’s move comes ahead of the days when the company will announce its results for the first quarter ended June 30, 2019 on July 17, 2019.

Wipro Ltd’s lead independent director Narayanan Vaghul and chairman of the board’s nomination and remuneration panel Ashok Ganguly will retire soon, marking an end to their more than two-decade-long stint with India’s fourth-largest information technology services company.

The company’s founder Azim Premji too stepped down from his role as executive chairman and managing director, after having led the Bengaluru-based company for more than half a century. He passed on his responsibilities to his son Rishad Premji.
