The latest beta update of WhatsApp for Android shows a new change. According to this update, WhatsApp is working to redesign the multimedia footer in the application. This feature is currently in development and should be rolling out soon.
WhatsApp Beta Update 2.21.5.4 includes the new functionality. The redesigned media footer refers to the section that appears when you switch media on WhatsApp. There is an in-app editing tool that you can use to edit media content before sending it to a contact or downloading it as status.
WABetaInfo shared a screenshot showing the difference between the new and the old user interface. The changes appear at the bottom of the screen, where the text bar, submit button, and media submit button are most clearly aligned on one tab. It’s on a tab with a light gray background. The media button icon has also been changed to look more like the gallery icon, which replaces the previous “+” icon.

Other than the changes to the user interface, nothing seems to change in the functionality of the media footer. WhatsApp is expected to introduce this in a new update.
WABetaInfo also mentioned that the upcoming Read Later feature has been renamed to Archived Chats. This feature is an update to archived chats, but WhatsApp previously planned to label it “Read Later.” It seems that WhatsApp is reverting to its old name, Archived Chats. The new update essentially keeps threads archived even when a new message arrives.
