
Telangana State reported progress in IT, industries, and innovation over the past year. Telangana IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu attributed the outcomes to government policies and partnerships. He shared updates on global technology and manufacturing firms that have started or expanded operations in Telangana under the Congress-led government.
In 2024, Telangana facilitated investments worth ₹6,000 crore, creating 5,200 direct jobs. Companies like FedEx, ZF Lifetec, the London Stock Exchange Group (LSE Group), and Cognizant are expected to generate over 18,000 additional jobs. The LSE Group’s Technology Centre of Excellence plans to expand its workforce from 300 to 1,000 employees.

Cognizant committed to 15,000 new jobs and a new office following discussions with the Chief Minister in the US. Arcesium hired 500 employees for its AI and data teams at its first global capability centre outside the US in Hyderabad. Uber increased its AI/ML team by 1,000 employees and introduced initiatives like Uber Shuttle and Uber Green.

Micron Technology has over 4,500 engineers in Hyderabad, forming 82% of its workforce in India. Hyderabad supports the company’s global operations.

Startup Support
The state supported 441 startups in raising $291 million in funding. Initiatives like ‘Market Connections’ facilitated 983 business partnerships, and ‘Mentor Hours’ provided 1,488 hours of guidance.
Focus on Emerging Technologies
The Global AI Summit 2024 included participants from over 10 countries and 10,000 attendees. Telangana partnered with NVIDIA, Microsoft, and AWS to enhance AI infrastructure. The GCC Conclave involved over 200 Global Capability Centres working with startups. Events like MATHACK 2.0 received 10,000 applications and 2,700 team entries.

FedEx launched its Advanced Capability Community in Hyderabad with an investment of $1,000 million, creating 1,000 jobs in the first year. ZF Lifetec, a German firm, set up one of its three global R&D centres in Hyderabad, employing 450 engineers.
