Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja group’s Indian flagship company and a leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, has appointed Shenu Agarwal as managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO) with immediate effect.

“Agarwal will lead the company’s technology development, growth, and future strategy toward achieving our vision of being among the top 10 commercial vehicle players globally,” the company said.

Agarwal comes from Escorts Kubota Ltd, where he was president. For more than seven years, he was the agribusiness’s CEO, and he was closely involved in elevating Escorts to a position of leadership by introducing the modern global design, quality, and manufacturing standards.

“Shenu has a proven track record as a leader from a business conglomerate and is an all-rounder with experience in a variety of disciplines.” With Shenu at the helm, Ashok Leyland’s focus on dependability, ambition to achieve global scale, and the constant pursuit of increasing stakeholder value will be strengthened. “I am confident that the company will carve new niches in the mobility sector under his leadership very soon,” said Dheeraj Hinduja, Ashok Leyland’s executive chairman.
