IKEA India has appointed Patrik Antoni as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective August 2025. The announcement, made on Tuesday, marks a pivotal moment in the Swedish home furnishings company’s India operations as it gears up for its next phase of expansion and transformation.
In addition to the CEO role, Antoni will also assume the responsibilities of Country Retail Manager and Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO), thereby taking on a comprehensive leadership position overseeing retail operations and sustainability strategy across Ingka Group companies in India. This dual responsibility is designed to drive the company’s “One IKEA India” strategy, aiming for a more integrated and accessible retail experience nationwide.

Antoni brings over two decades of experience with IKEA globally, including a significant five-year stint in India as Deputy CEO. He was a key member of the initial retail team that launched IKEA’s first store in Hyderabad. His in-depth understanding of the Indian market, combined with international leadership experience—most recently as General Manager of IKEA Russia—positions him strongly to lead the brand’s next chapter in the country.

“I am honoured and excited to return to India, a market that holds a special place in my heart and my career,” said Antoni in the official company release. “I look forward to building on the strong foundation that the team has laid and the many opportunities that lie ahead. India is a truly unique market with immense growth potential.”

The leadership transition follows the departure of Susanne Pulverer, who has chosen to step down after a 28-year career with IKEA, including eight years in India across three assignments. Her tenure was marked by substantial contributions to commercial growth and organisational transformation. “While now handing over to a new leadership, I am excited to start a new chapter in my life,” Pulverer stated.
Under Pulverer’s leadership, IKEA India expanded its footprint to include three large-format stores in Hyderabad, Navi Mumbai, and Bengaluru, along with a city store in Worli, Mumbai. The retailer also offers extensive online and remote shopping services with home delivery available across major cities including Delhi-NCR, Pune, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Lucknow.
The appointment comes as IKEA accelerates its investment and operational focus in India, tapping into the country’s fast-growing economy and rising demand for affordable, sustainable home furnishings. The company has underlined its commitment to creating a robust retail ecosystem in India that aligns with its global sustainability and growth objectives.
With Antoni at the helm, IKEA India is expected to intensify its efforts toward customer accessibility, sustainability, and local job creation, reinforcing its long-term vision for the Indian market.
