Vikas Purohit

Vikas Purohit, the former CEO of Tata CLiQ, was named director of Meta’s global business group in India on Monday. Purohit will lead Meta’s strategic relationships with various brands and agencies to increase the adoption of digital tools for India’s business revenue growth. Purohit, an IIM Bangalore alumnus, has over 20 years of experience in business, sales, and marketing roles with companies such as Tata CLiQ, Amazon, Reliance Brands, Aditya Birla Group, and Tommy Hilfiger.

He began his career as a management trainee at Aditya Birla Group before moving on to Tommy Hilfiger as the head of business operations. He spent over two years as Reliance Brands’ retail business head before moving to Amazon to lead Amazon’s Fashion business.

“To the wonderful mentors at Tata Group, Board Members of Tata CliQ, Brand partners, agencies and outstanding colleagues – I will always treasure every moment and wear it with pride and passion. “I’m taking a short break and looking forward to my next stint, which begins in January,” Purohit wrote on LinkedIn last month.

Purohit will lead partnership initiatives with the media and creative ecosystems at Meta and engage brands and agencies to increase the adoption of Meta’s digital tools. He will be in charge of the organization’s key business vertical, agency, and business solutions teams.

Purohit will report to Arun Srinivas, Meta India’s director and head of Ads Business.

“India’s largest businesses and agencies are playing a crucial role in the country’s expanding digital economy and are building innovative business models that are inspiring marketers globally. “I am delighted to welcome Vikas to our team as he helps to shape the role that Meta platforms can play in enabling businesses, supporting India’s economic growth, and building the country’s digital advertising ecosystem,” Srinivas said.

India is a critical market for tech behemoths like Meta, particularly given the growing adoption of digital advertising services by businesses that use ad campaigns to target their customers.

Meta India’s gross ad revenues increased 74% year on year to Rs 16,189 crore in FY22, owing primarily to the increased adoption of its digital ad tools.
