On National Startup Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi noted its ninth anniversary and discussed how the ‘Startup India’ initiative is promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and opportunities for young people, and, in the process, making India one of the largest startup ecosystems.

Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Modi stated that the initiative has helped young people turn ideas into successful businesses over the past nine years. “Proud of the strength and skills of India’s Yuva Shakti, which has made India among the most attractive places for StartUps,” he wrote. He also noted that, ten years ago, many questioned whether India could succeed in this area, but the programme has proven otherwise.

The Prime Minister shared that startups in India are working in many fields, including technology, rural solutions, healthcare, biotech, FinTech, EdTech, clean energy, and sustainable technology. These efforts are addressing problems, creating jobs, and helping India move toward self-reliance under the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.

Modi said the government is working to create an environment that supports entrepreneurs. Policies have been designed to make it easier to start and grow businesses, improve access to resources, and provide support at every stage. He also mentioned efforts to promote innovation centres and encourage young people to take risks in building new ideas.

He shared that he regularly speaks with startup founders to understand their needs and challenges. According to Modi, the programme reflects a country that is active and ready to take on future challenges.

The Prime Minister concluded by saying that Startup India shows how the country is moving forward with confidence and determination.
