Green Strategic Partnership

India and Norway have unveiled a Green Strategic Partnership aimed at expanding cooperation in advanced technology, sustainability, and scientific research. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Oslo.

The partnership is linked to the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement, which is expected to facilitate $100 billion in investments and create one million jobs in India over the next 15 years.

A key pillar of the collaboration is future-focused technology. Prime Minister Modi said the two countries will strengthen ties in engineering, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital innovation by connecting universities and startup ecosystems.

India and Norway also agreed to deepen cooperation in areas such as ocean energy, geology, healthcare, and talent mobility. In addition, a new memorandum of understanding between ISRO and the Norwegian Space Agency will further expand bilateral collaboration in space research and technology.

The Arctic was another major area of discussion. Modi thanked Norway for supporting India’s Arctic research station, Himadri, and emphasized the role of scientific collaboration in understanding climate change, protecting fragile ecosystems, and advancing sustainable development.

Norway also joined the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative, with both nations committing to stronger cooperation in maritime security, green shipping, and the blue economy.
