Mistral AI has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Emmi AI, a startup specializing in physics-based AI for industrial applications, as part of its strategy to strengthen AI capabilities for engineering and manufacturing.
As part of the acquisition, Emmi AI’s 35-member team, including its co-founders, will join Mistral beginning in May 2026. The move is intended to enhance Mistral’s foundation models with the ability to understand and simulate physical systems, enabling AI agents to work seamlessly with existing engineering tools.
Emmi AI’s technology helps industrial companies replace complex simulations that typically take days with real-time modeling. This can significantly accelerate product design, support the creation of digital twins, and optimize the performance of industrial assets.
