Hero Motocorp Board names Harley Davidson dealmaker Niranjan Gupta as CEO By Elets News Network - 31 March 2023

Niranjan Gupta has been named CEO of Hero Motocorp, a manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters. Gupta’s appointment will be effective on May 1, 2023. He has been promoted from the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Head-Strategy and M&A. According to an exchange filing, Niranjan has played a key role in Hero Motocorp’s partnerships with global brands such as Harley Davidson and Zero Motorcycles.

“Over the past six years, Niranjan has more than 25 years of rich leadership experience in finance, mergers and acquisitions, supply chain, and strategy roles across business sectors including consumer goods, metals and mining, and automobiles,” according to the filing.


In addition, Gupta sits on the boards of Ather Energy, HMCL Colombia, and HMC MM Auto Private Limited. He also worked for Vedanta for three years and Unilever for twenty years before joining Hero MotoCorp.

“His elevation to the role of CEO is a testament to the robust succession planning process we have put in place within the company,” Hero MotoCorp Executive Chairman and Whole-time Director Dr Pawan Munjal said of Gupta’s appointment. Under his leadership, Gupta stated that the company’s priorities would be global expansion, premium segment, and electric mobility. “The journey ahead will be even more exciting,” he said, “with a focus on global expansion, premium segment, and electric mobility.”


On the BSE, Hero Motocorp shares are trading at 2,303.35 per share, up 2.40 per cent from the previous market close.
