GE Aerospace has appointed Shilpa Gupta as Chief Technology Officer for India and Site Leader for the John F. Welch Technology Centre in Bengaluru, reinforcing the city’s strategic importance in global aviation innovation.

In her new role, Gupta will lead GE Aerospace’s engineering, research, and digital technology teams at the Bengaluru hub, driving innovation, scaling advanced technologies, and strengthening the company’s regional impact. She will oversee critical initiatives in next-generation propulsion technologies, including the CFM RISE program and hybrid electric technologies aimed at developing cleaner, more sustainable flight solutions.

Prior to this appointment, Gupta led the Gas Power engineering team for GE Vernova in India, managing engineering operations across Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Noida, while simultaneously serving as JFWTC Site Leader for GE Vernova. Her extensive experience in power generation technology positions her well to advance GE Aerospace’s strategic objectives.

Under her leadership, Bengaluru’s digital teams will focus on transforming engine maintenance through integration of artificial intelligence, digital twins, and advanced analytics. These technologies aim to improve inspection accuracy, reduce aircraft turnaround times, and enhance time on wing performance.

The appointment follows GE Aerospace’s recent $44 million investment to expand manufacturing operations in Pune, demonstrating the company’s deepening commitment to India. The Bengaluru technology centre, a hub of innovation for 25 years, continues developing cutting-edge aviation technologies, solidifying GE Aerospace’s position as a leader in the global aerospace sector.
