A high-level delegation led by Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), visited the K Tech MeitY Nasscom Centre of Excellence for IoT and AI in Bengaluru on August 3, 2025. The visit aimed to engage directly with India’s fast-growing deep-tech ecosystem and identify avenues for accelerating innovation-led industrial development.
Recognised as one of India’s largest deep-tech innovation hubs, the Centre of Excellence (CoE) serves as a collaborative platform connecting startups, enterprises, academic institutions, and government agencies. It promotes advanced technologies including artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, machine learning, data science, robotics, AR/VR, and big data. During the visit, the delegation interacted with startups and incubated companies showcasing AI- and IoT-based solutions designed for sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, and smart infrastructure.

In addition to the CoE engagement, the delegation conducted a detailed assessment of the Tumakuru Industrial Area, which forms a vital component of the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme. Phase A of the project, covering approximately 1,736 acres, is nearing completion and includes key infrastructure such as internal roads, drainage networks, and integrated utility corridors. Project contractors presented technical updates and reaffirmed delivery timelines, with industrial land allotment expected to begin before the end of the year.

The DPIIT Secretary emphasised the importance of maintaining high standards in execution and urged coordinated efforts across stakeholders to attract investment in high-potential sectors such as electronics, green energy, mobility, and integrated logistics. He also reiterated the role of infrastructure-led policy support in enhancing India’s global competitiveness in manufacturing and exports.

The delegation also visited strategic facilities, including Foxconn’s technology unit, the Devanahalli Aerospace Special Economic Zone, and Dynamatic Technologies. These visits offered insights into India’s capacity in precision engineering, electronics assembly, and aerospace manufacturing, underscoring the nation’s increasing significance in global supply chains.
The team accompanying the DPIIT Secretary included senior officials from the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation, Startup India, and DPIIT’s infrastructure and policy wings. Meetings were also held with key representatives from the Government of Karnataka to ensure alignment in project implementation and investment facilitation. Discussions focused on optimising state-central coordination to accelerate the development of industrial corridors and innovation clusters.
The delegation’s visit reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening India’s innovation landscape through collaborative platforms, deep-tech adoption, and infrastructure readiness. It also highlighted the growing synergy between startups and policymakers in creating a vibrant ecosystem that supports entrepreneurship, advanced manufacturing, and digital transformation.
Looking forward, the DPIIT aims to continue working closely with Centres of Excellence and state industrial bodies to fast-track India’s transition into an innovation-driven, export-oriented economy. The integration of digital infrastructure with advanced industrial projects is poised to position India as a global leader in both technology and manufacturing.
