Crypto CEO Acquires AI.com for Record-Breaking $70 Million, Debuts Platform During Super Bowl By cioNetworks - 13 February 2026

AI.com

Kris Marszalek, co-founder and CEO of Crypto, purchased the AI.com domain for $70 million in what represents the largest publicly disclosed domain sale in internet history, unveiling the platform during Super Bowl LX with a highly anticipated commercial.

The transaction, completed in April 2025 and paid entirely in cryptocurrency, shattered previous domain sale records. CarInsurance.com previously held the record at $49.7 million in 2010, followed by VacationRentals.com at $35 million in 2007 and OpenAI’s recent Chat.com purchase at $15.5 million.

Marszalek revealed the acquisition just days before the Super Bowl debut, describing a vision to build a consumer AI agent platform that moves beyond conversational interfaces to autonomous task execution. The platform enables users to create personal AI agents capable of sending messages, executing actions across applications, trading stocks, and managing workflows without constant user interaction.

The Super Bowl commercial, which cost an estimated $10-15 million including production, became the top-performing advertisement of the night according to EDO analytics, generating 9.1 times more engagement than the average Super Bowl ad. However, the debut was marred by technical difficulties as massive traffic surges overwhelmed servers, causing outages and error messages for users attempting to access the site.

Despite receiving substantial offers for the domain, Marszalek stated his intention to retain ownership and develop the platform long-term. The purchase marks his second high-profile domain acquisition following Crypto.com, which he bought for $10 million in 2018. Crypto.com currently claims over 150 million users and approximately $1.5 billion in annual revenue.
