
Colruyt Group has inaugurated its second IT Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Coimbatore, India, following its first in Hyderabad. The group operates over 750 retail stores across Belgium, France, and Luxembourg, offering products and services in food, non-food, health & well-being, and energy & mobility.
The Coimbatore centre was opened on July 1, 2024, in a ceremony attended by the Ambassador of Belgium to India, Didier Vanderhasselt, and other notable guests, including Padma Shri Dr. G. Bakthavathsalam and City Commissioner of Police, IPS Thiru V. Balakrishnan.

Managing Director of Colruyt Group India, Hari Subramanian said, “The opening of our new office in Coimbatore is of strategic importance as this augments our ambition to continuously add value to our Group’s strategic initiatives with a focus on digital enablement and transformation. This decision also accentuates the business sustainability for all our operations from India.”

Subramanian expressed that this decision elevates the business sustainability of the group in India. He also noted that the entrepreneurial culture, engineering hub, and educational ecosystem of Coimbatore made it an ideal choice.
Colruyt Group India employs 800 full-time staff and 150 consultants, working on technologies such as IoT, RPA, and data science. The new Coimbatore facility supports the Group’s digital transformation and business continuity.
Additionally, Colruyt Group has entered the Indian market through retail trade and investments via Korys Investments, focusing on the agri-food value chain, health, and financial inclusion to support Indian startups.
