BharatPe announced on Thursday the appointment of Rohan Khara as its new Chief Product Officer (CPO). In his new role, Khara will steer the development and innovation of products, oversee the design of merchant and consumer offerings, and lead the user research initiatives across the BharatPe Group entities.

Khara expressed his commitment to not just focusing on crafting innovative products that deliver substantial value to the end-users, which include both merchants and consumers, but also ensuring that innovation goes hand in hand with financial judiciousness. He emphasized the continued introduction of new products aimed at fulfilling the needs of their target segments while also enhancing business value and contributing positively to the company’s financial health.


Before his appointment at BharatPe, Khara held the position of Managing Director (MD) at FairMoney India, bringing with him an impressive 17 years of experience in product management, design, and innovation. Over the past eight years, he has been pivotal in the development and expansion of financial services products for fintech startups in three burgeoning markets: India, Indonesia, and Nigeria. His career has spanned leading product-related roles at various startups, including MobiKwik and Quikr.

Highlighting Khara’s rich experience, Nalin Negi, the CFO and interim CEO at BharatPe, stated that his extensive background is expected to significantly contribute to BharatPe’s product innovation strategies, thereby accelerating the company’s growth. Negi also mentioned BharatPe’s ongoing commitment to empowering a multitude of merchants and customers.

Khara held the position of Chief Product Officer at FairMoney, overseeing product strategies for both the Nigerian and Indian markets, before being promoted to MD for its operations in India. He is a Stanford University alumnus, where he earned his Master of Science degree in Management Science and Engineering.
